Sealed Systems in Fortune 10 Company
About 15 sealed systems have been deployed in one of the top Fortune 500 companies. All systems install in minutes, software updates take minutes, system backups are virtually eliminated, and disaster recovery procedures are shortened from days to minutes.
Although most of the 15 systems had different functions, they all ran the same sealed system software. Each system's personality is determined by a small configuration filesystem that is maintained on a central server.
After a disaster, new systems are loaded with the same sealed system software, which takes a few minutes. Many systems can be loaded at the same time. Each computer's configuration filesystem is downloaded from the central server automatically.
The systems administration workload was reduced dramatically from the previous Windows and conventional Linux systems.
